Soccer News – PSG – Caen
The champions PSG will finish its successful Ligue 1 campaign against Caen away from home. Let’s have a look at this game from the last 38th round of the French league.
After PSG lost the title against Monaco last year, now the Parisians dominated the league and returned on top. PSG won the Ligue 1 title without much of a problem. Right now Unai Emery’s team is 15 points ahead of the 2nd Monaco, which speaks enough of the way PSG dominated the league.
Right now PSG have 92 points and a record of 29 wins, 5 draws and 3 defeats. After officially winning the title, PSG lowered the tempo and it’s visible from the way they are performing lately. In their last five games PSG won just twice, made two draws and suffered one defeat against Rennes in the previous round.
Of course, it’s not much of a problem for the champions. They already won the title and everything else in France, so nobody is going to be mad at them for giving away some points in the last few rounds of the league.
This is going to be Unai Emery’s last match as PSG manager. Despite of winning three trophies in France this season, Emery won’t continue at the club. The main reason for this is that he failed in the Champions League for a second consecutive year. Emery is going to be replaced at helm by the German tactician Thomas Tuchel.
Caen on the other hand are 17th in the Ligue 1 with 37 points. They have a record of 10 wins, 7 draws and 20 defeats. Right now Caen are just three points ahead of the 18th Toulouse and the relegation playoff spot, so for them it’s important to win at least one point against PSG on Saturday night.
