The 2017 edition of Wimbledon starts today in London. Here are the most important matches from the women draw and Day 1. Are your favourites playing today?
The two time winner Petra Kvitova is seeded as №11 this year at Wimbledon. She will start her participation in the tournament against Johanna Larsson from Sweden at the Centre Court, just after Andy Murray’s match against Alexander Bublik.
At Court №1 we will watch the clash between the legendary Venus Williams and Elise Mertens from Belgium. The 37-years old Venus is a five time Wimbledon champion. In the beginning of the year she reached the final at the Australian Open, which she lost from her sister Serena Williams. Can she repeat this performance in London? She’s seeded as №10 in the main draw.
Johanna Konta is the great hope of Great Britain in the women’s draw. She’s seeded as №6 and she will start her participation in the tournament against Su-Wei Hsieh from Taiwan, right after Rafael Nadal’s match against John Millman.
At Court №2 we will see the №2 seeded Simona Halep from Romania. The Roland Garros finalist will face Marina Erakovic from New Zealand in the first round. At the same court the crowd will cheer for Great Britain’s Heather Watson, who will face Maryna Zanevska from Belarus.
At Court №3 we will witness in action the №4 seeded Elina Svitolina from Ukraine. She will face Ashleigh Barty from Australia. On the same court her adventure in Wimbledon will start the Roland Garros winner Jelena Ostapenko from Latvia. She will face Aliaksandra Sasnovich from Belarus.
The №8 seeded Dominika Cibulkova is also beginning today her 2017 Wimbledon journey. The Slovakian will test herself against Andrea Petkovic from Germany. Before that we will see the match between Madison Keys (17) from USA and Nao Hibino from Japan.
Great Britain’s Laura Robson is also starting today her participation at the Wimbledon. At Court №18 she will face Beatriz Haddad Maia from Brazil.
