The host of the tournament Greece will face Israel in the final of the FIBA U20 European Championship.
This final was made possible after these two teams won their semifinal legs on Saturday. Greece were merciless against the young players of Spain, beating La Roja with 77-56. It was a total domination by the Greeks, who will have the chance to become European champions in front of their own fans.
Meanwhile Israel also showed a huge dominance over France in the other semifinal. They played in a spectacular way and achieved a 74-52 over the Frenchmen.
Based on their performance during the two semifinals, we could say that Greece and Israel deserved to reach the final of the U20 European Championship. They were clearly the two best teams in the tournament. But who will prevail between them?
During the 1/4-finals Greece had a really competitive game against Lithuania, which they won with 76-72. Meanwhile Israel showed another dominant display by winning against Iceland with 74-54. The 20 points difference tells us enough about how better Israel were compared to Iceland.
In the other two 1/4-finals Spain won against Germany (69-61) and France were dominant against Serbia (86-76). But these were their last wins in the competition, before reaching the semifinals.
During the 1/8-finals Greece scored just 56 points against Montenegro, but it was enough for a 56-49 win in one of the Balkan derbies of the U20 European Championship.
Meanwhile the other finalist Israel reached the 1/4-finals after a 79-71 win over Italy.
In the other matches Serbia, Lithuania, France, Spain, Germany and Iceland won against Ukraine, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Latvia, Turkey and Sweden.
