Soccer News – Eibar-Barcelona

Eibar hosts the champion Barcelona in a match from the 9th round of La Liga.

At this moment Eibar are 14th in La Liga’s standings with 9 points won and a record of two wins, three draws and three losses. What we have to mention here is that they are undefeated in their last four matches in the league, recording two wins and two draws.

In the previous round Mendilibar’s boys visited Real Betis at the Estadio Benito Villamarin in Sevilla and won a point after a 1-1 draw. Fabian Orellana opened the score for the visitors, but Betis secured a point after a goal from Loren Moron in the 66th minute.

The bad news for Mendilibar came from the red card of the Argentine midfielder Gonzalo Escalante, who is going to miss the the clash with Barca on Saturday.

As for Barcelona, right now the Catalans are second in the league with 16 points, being just two points behind the current leader Real Madrid. Los Cules had some shaky performances since the start of the campaign, but right now they are enjoying a run of three consecutive wins in La Liga.

In the previous round Ernesto Valverde’s boys hosted Sevilla at the Camp Nou and celebrated a stunning 4-0 win over Los Rojiblancos. Lionel Messi scored his first goal for the season, while Luis Suarez, Arturo Vidal and Ousmane Dembele also scored.

Dembele played a pretty good game against Sevilla, but at the end of the match he did something stupid, getting sent off after saying something to the referee. Because of this, the French winger won’t be playing against Eibar. Most likely he’s going to get replaced by Antoine Griezmann in the starting eleven.

Barcelona are in the position of favourites against Eibar on Saturday. Ernesto Valverde’s team is chasing a fourth consecutive win in the league and this is a good opportunity for them.
