Soccer News – Italy-Spain
Italy faces Spain at the Wembley Stadium in the first 1/2-final game from the Euro 2020. For both teams it’s just one step away from the final. Let’s preview it!
The Italian team continue to be brilliant since the beginning of the European Championship. In the 1/4-finals the Azzurri eliminated another one of the big contenders for the trophy – Belgium. Roberto Mancini’s team achieved a 2-1 win in Munich thanks to the goals of Nicolo Barella and Lorenzo Insigne. In the second half Italy had to defend a little bit more, but they successfully survived Belgium’s attacks and reached the 1/2-finals.
Italy celebrated against the Red Devils, but at the same time they lost one of their best players – Leonardo Spinazzola. Once again the left-back had some decisive interventions, but he left the pitch in pain. According to the medical reports, Spinazzola ruptured his achilles, so he could be out for a year. That’s a huge loss for Italy – no doubt about that.
Spain had a dramatic fixture in the 1/4-finals and they needed penalties to eliminate the inspired team of Switzerland. The regular time in Saint-Petersburg ended with a 1-1 draw. Switzerland’s Denis Zakaria scored himself an own goal after a shot from Jordi Alba, but Xherdan Shaqiri equalised for the Crusaders in the second half.
The goalkeeper Unai Simon became the Spanish hero during the penalties. The Athletic Bilbao star saved two penalties of the Swiss team and allowed La Roja to progress. It wasn’t easy, but Spain did a good enough job to find a place among the best four teams in the competition.
We are pretty sure it’s going to be an impressive 1/2-final game between Italy and Spain at the Euro 2020. Maybe the Azzurri look like favorites here, but in our preview we must warn you – don’t underestimate La Roja. They can be really dangerous.
