Soccer News – Juventus-Barcelona
Juventus hosts Barcelona in the big derby of Group D of the UEFA Champions League.
Just as it was expected, these two teams are leading the group after the first four rounds being played. Barcelona are leaders with 10 points, while Juventus follow up with 7. Sporting CP are third with 4, while Olympiakos are last with just one point won so far.
Juventus have a lot to proove in this match. At the Camp Nou last season’s finalists suffered a heavy 0-3 defeat, so now Max Allegri’s team would like to prove that they are better than this. But it won’t be easy for them, because Barcelona look really effective since Ernesto Valverde was appointed as a manager of the team.
Juve and Barca are in a little bit different positions in their domestic leagues as well. Juventus are surprisingly second in the Serie A, being just behind the leader Napoli. In the same time Barcelona are a comfortable leader in La Liga, being almost flawless in the competition so far. This should give the Catalans a lot of confidence in the Champions League as well.
As it stands right now, Barcelona are favourites for the first place in the group. They have three points advantage in front of Juventus, so even a draw in Turin would be a good enough result for the Los Cules. Valverde’s team never plays for a draw, of course, but it’d be a good strategical result for the Spanish side.
As for Juventus, the Old Lady started the new season a little bit slower than usual, but Juve have enough time on their side to remind everyone who they really are. They remain one of Europe’s best teams and nobody shall ever forget about it. Now they will have a great chance to prove it against the almighty Barcelona.
