Soccer News – Leicester City – Chelsea
Leicester City welcome Chelsea in a match from the last 38th round of the Premier League. Here’s our take on this clash at the King Power Stadium in Leicester.
For Leicester the big motivation here is to win and eventually overtake Everton at the 8th place in the final standings. At this moment the Foxes are just 2 points behind the Toffees. In the same time Everton have a difficult trip to London to meet Tottenham, so everything is possible here.
Since the beginning of the season Leicester won 51 points. They will finish the season with a different manager than the one they started with. Maybe you remember, but Claude Puel was sacked few months ago and replaced by Brendan Rodgers. Since Rodgers’ appointment, Leicester improved their performance on the pitch and started winning more often.
In the previous round Brendan Rodgers tried to make a favour to his former club Liverpool, by stopping Manchester City at the Etihad. Well, this didn’t happen, because City won this game with 1-0 after a terrific goal from the club captain Vincent Kompany. Still, Leicester played a good game and even had a very good chance to equalise at the end.
In the same time Chelsea are playing to keep the third place in the standings. RIght now the Blues are 3rd in the table with 71 points, being one point ahead of the 4th Tottenham. One thing is for sure – Chelsea will play in the Champions League next season as they are already untouchable in the Top 4.
In their last game in the league Maurizio Sarri’s boys faced Watford at home and celebrated a comfortable 3-0 win. Ruben Loftus-Cheek, David Luiz and Gonzalo Higuain scored for the home side at the Stamford Bridge. During the week Chelsea also reached the Europa League final, eliminating Eintracht Frankfurt after a penalty shootout.
That’s our take on the Premier League clash between Leicester City and Chelsea on Sunday afternoon. Good luck!
