Soccer News – Real Valladolid-Atletico Madrid

Real Valladolid welcomes Atletico Madrid at the Estadio Municipal Jose Zorrilla in a match from the 8th round of La Liga. Let’s take a look at this fixture, shall we?

Real Valladolid are currently moving in the middle of the standings in La Liga. Sergio’s team is positioned at 10th place in the table, having won 9 points so far. The team’s record in the league so far looks like this: two wins, three draws and two losses.

In the previous round Real Valladolid stopped a long run without a win in the league. Los Albivioletas travelled to Barcelona to face Espanyol, achieving a 2-0 win at the RCDE Stadium. Michel scored for the visitors from a penalty kick in the first half, while after the break Oscar Plano doubled Valladolid’s lead.

Atletico Madrid are fighting for the title and it’s clear that Diego Simeone’s team must win games like this in order to achieve this goal. Right now Los Rojiblancos are third in the standings, but being only one point behind the leader Real Madrid. If they win this game and they have luck with some other results, Atletico could return on top.

During the week Los Rojiblancos achieved a first win in the Champions League for the season. Cholo Simeone’s boys visited Lokomotiv Moscow in the Russian capital and enjoyed a 2-0 win. Both goals were scored in the second half of the game, when the Spanish side secured the three points with strikes from Joao Felix and Thomas Partey. For the young star Felix it was his first goal for Atletico in the Champions League.

After the long and tiring trip to Moscow, most likely Diego Simeone will make some changes against Real Valladolid. Thomas Lemar and Kieran Trippier could return in the starting eleven for Atletico Madrid, while Stefan Savic could start in defense. We shall see.
