Soccer News – Tottenham Hotspur-Leipzig
Tottenham Hotspur hosts RB Leipzig at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in a first 1/8-finals game between these two teams in the Champions League. This is going to be Jose Mourinho’s first knockout tie in the competition with the English side.
Last season Tottenham reached the final of the Champions League, although being managed by another coach. This brings some confidence in Spurs’ dressing room that they can do well in this competition, despite of the fact that they have never won it in their history. And let’s not forget that their manager is a man who have won it twice so far.
This current moment is good for Jose Mourinho. Tottenham are unbeaten in their last seven games in all competitions, winning five of them. It seems that the Portuguese manager is improving his team’s results lately. Of course, what’s unpleasant is that he must do it without one of Spurs’ best players – Harry Kane. The English international will be sidelined for two more months, which is a serious hit on Tottenham’s ambitions. The good news is that players like Son Heung-Min and Lucas Moura are showing nice form at the moment, especially the Korean.
RB Leipzig are becoming a bigger club with every next season. They are currently challenging Bayern Munich for the Bundesliga title, having fine results under their young manager Julian Nagelsmann. Since his arrival from Hoffenheim, Nagelsmann managed to improve the Red Bulls and take them to a new level. Just as we expected.
RB Leipzig had some problems with their results lately, but during the weekend they showed their strenght again. The Red Bulls hosted Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga and crushed their opponents with 3-0. It was a good preparation for the game against Spurs.
Most of the pundits regard Tottenham Hotspur a favourite against RB Leipzig and we agree, but in same time we can see what makes RB Leipzig a dangerous team. They can hurt Spurs if the English side allows them.
