Soccer News – Valencia-Chelsea

Valencia welcomes Chelsea at the Estadio Mestalla in a match from Group H of the Champions League.

This group is much more entertaining than we thought in the beginning. Three teams are having the same amount of 7 points at the moment – Ajax, Chelsea and Valencia. Basically everything could happen until the end of the group stage, so we are going to follow this group with high interest.

At the Mestalla Chelsea will try to avenge the 0-1 defeat they suffered against Valencia at the Stamford Bridge. This is Chelsea’s only loss in the group so far. Maybe you remember what happened in the 74th minute of the match when Rodrigo beat Kepa after a good cross from Dani Parejo.

In the previous round of the group stage Chelsea participated in the best game in the Champions League so far. They hosted Ajax at the Stamford Bridge and they down to 1-4, but managed to equalise and win a point after a 4-4 draw. Jorginho scored two penalties for the Blues, while Azpilicueta and Reece James also scored.

Valencia also scored four goals in their last game in the competition. But they managed to win, too. Los Che hosted Lille and they were behind in the scoreline, but at the end celebrated a dominatng 4-1 win. Lille’s Adama Soumaoro scored himself an own goal, while Dani Parejo from a penalty kick, Geoffrey Kondogbie and Ferran Torres put the ball in for Valencia. It was Los Che’s best performance in the Champions League this season. The manager Albert Celades can be proud with what his boys did against the French team.

Valencia are the only team who managed to beat Chelsea in the Champions League this season, but it doesn’t mean that the Blues can’t win at the Mestalla. They are starting to look better and better under the management of the club legend Frank Lampard.
