Soccer News – Watford-Tottenham Hotspur
Watford made one of the best decisions in their history when they sacked Quique Sanchez Flores and appointed Nigel Pearson at his place. Since Pearson’s arrival the Hornets are one of the teams in the best form in the league. In their last last six games in the Premier League Watford won four times and did two draws. After these results the club managed to escape the relegation zone and now the Hornets are 17th in the standings with 22 points.
Just a month or two Watford looked doomed and destined to return to the Championship, but now they look inspired and marching towards survival. It was all because Nigel Pearson’s work so far. Last week the Hornets visited Bournemouth and crushed the Cherries with 3-0 at the Vitality Stadium.
Tottenham Hotspur are visiting Watford in a moment in which Jose Mourinho’s team is not in its best shape. In their last three games in the league Spurs won just one point and lost twice. Because of this Tottenham are now 8th in the league with 30 points won – 9 points behind Chelsea and the Top 4.
Last week Tottenham hosted the leader Liverpool in London, but Mourinho’s boys were unable to oppose and they lost the game with 0-1. It was Spurs’ 8th loss since the start of the season.
We can say that for Tottenham this visit to in-form Watford comes at a pretty bad time. The Hornets are in a spectacular shape, while Spurs are suffering in the last few weeks. Despite of being a much bigger club, Spurs are probably the underdogs in this clash at the Vicarage Road. But let’s see if they can stand up after the few falls lately.
