The number 4 seeded Alexander Zverev continues his quest for glory in the ATP 1000 Miami Masters. He’s already in the third round of the competition, making one more step towards the final – his big goal in Miami.
Because of his high seed, Alex Zverev had the pleasure to rest in the first round. In the second round he had to face the winner from the match between Daniil Medvedev from Russia and Stefanos Tsitsipas from Greece.
Daniil Medvedev proved to be too strong for Tsitsipas, beating him in three sets – 2-6 6-4 6-2. Despite of losing the first set to the Greek player, Medvedev kept his cool and managed to turn it the other way around.
But in the second round the Russian had a much bigger fish to fry in the face of Alexander Zverev.
The match between Zverev and Medvedev was a classy one, because it went very dramatic. The young and talented German won the first set with 6-4, but in the second one Medvedev showed his qualities – 6-1 for the Russian. Everything came to a third set, which ended in the most thrilling way possible – with a tiebreak. The two players went toe to toe, but in the end Alex Zverev celebrated a win with a 7-5 in the tiebreak and 6-4 1-6 7-6 on the scoresheet.
In the third round Alexander Zverev will have an interesting challenge, because he’s about to meet the former №3 in the world David Ferrer from Spain. Currently seeded as №28 in the main draw, David Ferrer is trying to get back on his best levels.
In the second round the Spaniard enjoyed a comfortable win in two sets over Evgeny Donskoy – 6-2 6-2. It will be interesting to watch David Ferrer in action against a young talent like Alexander Zverev.
